Like fashion, an inspiration of a makeup look can be illustrated on paper where shapes, colours and style are worked out artistically. For a makeup artist, it is essential to understand the facial structure and the principle of light and shade. Dark colour shading is used to recede and lighter colour is used to highlight. By working with depth created with colours, a desired look can be created to enhance one's natural beauty. I really enjoy the experience of working on Facecharts, which is simply a combined form of art and makeup. Facecharts enable me to apply makeup to what is a completely blank canvas to create a ‘look’, rather than working with models with pre-defined features and facial structures. The scope for creation has no limits. When I first began using them, I found them to be quite challenging but also very rewarding, enlightening and even therapeutic. They enable me to explore my potential, unlock my creativity, constantly hone my skills, and expand my imagination. |
